What do I do if I need a website?

First, you need to decide what information you would like to offer on your site. This can be as brief as one page describing who you are, where you are, what you do, and how to contact you; or it can be as comprehensive as you wish. You can include as many pages as you like describing your products and services or offering information you feel is relative to the needs of your customers and the general public.

What is Domain Name?

A domain name is the address that people use to find you or your company on the internet; it is what you type in the browser's address bar to go to a specific website, for example, our domain name is: http://www.fustyle.co.uk (in today's browsers, it's not necessary to type the symbols http:// ).

Domain names are registered for a minimum two year period; you can renew the name for a further 2 years if you wish. For a global domain name such as .com .org .net, you can register up to 5 and 10 year periods.

Every domain name has a suffix that indicates which top level domain it belongs to, for example:

com - Commercial business
org - Organizations (nonprofit)
net - Network organizations
gov - Government agencies
edu - Educational institutions
mil ¡V Military
co.uk ¡V United Kingdom
ca - Canada
th ¡V Thailand

What is Web hosting?

Web hosting is an allocated internet space for your domain name on a computer that serves the information stored on it to the internet. It is where all the files that make up your web site can be found.

After purchasing your Domain Name, you will need hosting to be able to display your website on the Internet. Payment for hosting packages is usually paid on an annual basis and you will be notified by email as and when it is due for renewal.

Why do I need my site listed in the major search engines?

The public must know that your site exists. And without advertising or being listed in the top 10% of search engines, no one will ever see your site. This is very important, not only for e-commerce sites, but for the small sites as well. Recognition is also achieved by a link exchange program or by advertising to a targeted audience at a web site that is similar to yours but that is not in direct competition with yours.

What does "search engine friendly" mean?

Search engine friendly means that your site is optimized for the best search engine placement possible using META keywords. This is important if you want to drive traffic to your site and increase your search engine placement for better web exposure. Search engines are an important part of the information super-highway and are essential in your popularity online.

What is FuStyle's process of building a website?

Stage 1 ¡V Initial Meeting

At this meeting we will discuss what you want from your web site. I will suggest ideas that can meet your objectives and talk you through any special requirements. Advice on options and prices will also be discussed.

Time will be spent with you to get the brief right. After that I can offer a complete service to help you to provide content, images etc., or you can provide your own.

FuStyle can host your site and register your domain name.

Stage 2 ¡V Design Process
I will provide two or three designs for you to choose from. These will be in a jpeg format . Between us we will work together to produce the right look and feel for your site. Usually once the initial design is agreed the rest of the site evolves quickly.

Stage 3 ¡V Building the Web Site
At this point, you will need to provide the content for the web site; all text must be in electronic form. Images should ideally be electronic form, but it may be possible to use scans from printed material. Help can be provided if you have any problems with producing the content e.g. photography.

Stage 4 - Test and Amendments
Once the web site is completed, final tests will be under taken on different platforms to make sure the web site functions and looks good to the majority of users. Email, forms etc will also be tested. During this time you can check the site for any amendments needed. The web site will then be launched live. Finally, you will be billed for job completion.

Stage 5 - Maintenance

If you would like FuStyle to maintain your web site, an agreement can be drawn up.
Any training you or your staff may require can be organised as required.
